I have started a series of gouache paintings of flowers and leaves. This is a detail from the artwork. I like the way gouache creates an opaque layer over the ink background.

This is a detail from a new piece which will become a framed artwork. It combines two repeat patterns with added motifs using Photoshop.

With this design, I have used some of the flower motifs from the study below. Using the offset filter in Photoshop I have created a half drop repeat.

This is how I mainly start the design process by experimenting with media, motifs and mark making. With this study I scanned it, then starting to use some of the flowers in Photoshop for pattern designs and artwork. You will see some completed designs later in my blog.

This is a zingy version of an earlier felt tip repeat print. I am going to get this printed this week, so am looking forward to using it on a new mosaic piece.

I thought you might like to see this version of  one of my early attempts at a repeat print, which I did by cutting my design into 4 and rearranging the pieces. After scanning the design and fitting the repeat together with layers in Photoshop, I selected  a nice sky blue background.
